Group Fitness Instructors/Assistants
Group Fitness Instructors and Assistants are responsible for teaching fun, safe, and effective group fitness classes, as well as providing education to patrons on the benefits of a healthy lifestyle. They will instruct and work with senior instructors to teach group fitness classes such as step, spin, cardioboxing, sculpting, pilates and yoga.
Prerequisites: Attend Group Fitness Instructor Training Course taught in the fall or the Yoga/Pilates training courses held in the spring. Other options include becoming nationally certified by AFAA, ACE, etc. and must possess current certifications in CPR and BBP. Weight Room Attendant
Provide a safe environment for weight training by assisting participants with individual workouts and enforcing all policies and guidelines set by University Recreation.
Work one-on-one with clients to provide fitness assessments, consultation and training sessions in order to help him or her meet fitness goals, as well as provide instruction on safe work out techniques. Personal Trainers are expected to supervise and assist in the improvement of their client's well being through motivation and education.
Prerequisites: Must possess a national certification such as ACE, ACSM, NSCA, or etc. and have current certifications in CPR and BBP.
Assist Fitness Coordinator with the management of student staff. There are three fitness programmers: group fitness, yoga and personal trainer programmer. Each programmer assists the fitness coordinator with the management of student staff in their area. They help create the schedules, complete evaluations and keep their staff up to date on correct technique.
Prerequisites: Must have worked one year as staff in area of interest. Must have strong leadership skills.
