Fitness Positions

Group Fitness Instructors/Assistants
Group Fitness Instructors and Assistants are responsible for teaching fun, safe and effective group fitness classes, as well as provide education to patrons on the benefits of healthy lifestyles through group exercise. He or she will instruct and work with senior instructors to teach group fitness classes such as step, spin, cardioboxing, sculpting, pilates and yoga.

Prerequisites: Must pass the Group Fitness Instructor Training Course taught in the Fall or be nationally certified by AFAA, ACE, etc. and must possess current certifications in CPR & BBP.


Weight Room Assistant
Provide a safe environment for weight training by assisting participants with individual workouts and enforcing all policies and guidelines set by University Recreation.

 

Personal Trainer

Work one-on-one with clients to provide fitness assessments, consultation and training sessions in order to help him or her meet fitness goals, as well as provide instruction on safe work out techniques. Personal Trainers are expected to supervise and assist in the improvement of their client's well being through motivation and education.

Prerequisites: Must possess a national certification such as ACE, ACSM, or NSCA  and have current certifications in CPR & BBP.


Fitness Programmer

Assist Fitness Coordinator with the management of student staff.

Prerequisites: Must have worked one year as staff in area of interest. Must have strong leadership skills.
